What are AHAs and should you be using them

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) work in three main ways to benefit your skin: exfoliating, moisturising and wrinkle reducing. Through chemical exfoliation AHAs assist with the removal of dead skin cells, leaving you with fresher, younger looking skin. At the same time AHAs allow for easier absorption of moisturisers and as the skin renewal process is expedited the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is lessened.
The most common AHAs, Glycolic Acid (promotes fast dead skin cell turnover and the emergence of new cells) and Lactic Acid (helps skin retain water and assists in exfoliation also), are the key ingredients in the Elucent Anti-Ageing Range, which is designed to use a combination of both to improve your skin.
From a day-to-day moisturiser with sunscreen to an eye cream, body moisturiser and every skin care staple in between, the Elucent Anti-Ageing Range will arm you with the anti-ageing arsenal you need to see you through from breakfast to lights out.
Aside from harnessing the power of AHAs, the Elucent Anti-Ageing Range is also infused with vitamins for an added skin boost; from antioxidant-rich Vitamin E and Vitamin C to Vitamin B3, which helps maintain the skin's natural barrier function and promotes even tone and texture within the skin, this range really has it all.
Our picks from the range include the Elucent Anti-Ageing Gentle Cleanser with 2% AHAs, which exfoliates and cleans without leaving skin dry and irritated thanks to the combination of AHAs and Vitamins B3 and E, and the Elucent Anti-Ageing Serum with 16% AHAs that, when directly applied to wrinkle-prone areas, gently exfoliates, smooths fine lines and improves skin texture and tone like no other.
When it comes to anti-ageing there are a few ingredients your skin simply loves to drink up and, quite frankly deserves. Just as you wouldn't skip moisturiser on your way out in the morning or sunscreen when you're off to the beach, AHAs should be a natural, not-to-be-missed step in your skincare and anti-ageing repertoire.
AHAs have been clinically proven to be effective at improving the appearance of skin while helping you reduce the signs of ageing, so maybe it's high time you invested in a regimen that keeps your skin happy, hydrated and protected in more ways than one.
